A sofa that allows maximum comfort in whichever position.
The key element is the “Smart Cushion”. Backrests and armrests have lost any stiffness and can be molded as desired with a flick of your hand: low, high, oblique, enveloping and functional. The deeper seats help to discover a casual comfort. Standard is the result of years of technological research to produce an exclusive sofa that perfectly fulfills the wishes of the users.
It allows total freedom of combining seats of different shape and depth to customize the compositions : linear, angular or free plan.

Edra
Their non-conventional debut in 1987 was based around the "I Nuovissimi" collection, furniture pieces conceived by young, relatively unknown designers. The company grew rapidly with its innovative approach and art direction of Milan-based architect Massimo Morozzi. The aptitude of talent scouts has allowed the company to bring together some of the most interesting new designers, such as Alessandro Mendini, Masanori Umeda from Japan, Francesco Binfaré, Fernando and Humbero Campana from Brazil, Ross Lovegrove from Wales, and some top architects, such as Zaha Hadid and the Australian studio Denton Corker and Marshall to develop products that are grounded in fresh, contemporary ideas. Flexible in its organisation, Edra makes resourceful use of the skills of its local area to create innovative products, at times revolutionising classic upholstered furniture.
Francesco Binfare
Francesco Binfare was director of the Cassina Research Centre from 1969 to 1976, during which period certain classics of contemporary design were born. In 1980 he founded his own Design and Communication Centre for research and the promotion of projects, some of which came into being for Cassina including Wink by Toshiyuki Kita (1980) and Feltri (1987) by Gaetano Pesce. He promotes initiatives for publishing experiments in furniture for the avant-garde and for the use of interactive media in architectural projects. He has taught at the Domus Academy in Milan and at the Royal College of Art in London, and has produced drawings, paintings, installations and many pieces of furniture that include Flap sofa for Edra.
