B&B Italia
Outdoor

The B&B Italia Outdoor collection is designed with comfort and beauty in mind. What started as a product evolution in the 1970s has developed into a collection with depth and a world-first stand alone flagship showroom in Sydney designed by Milanese architect, designer, and B&B Italia’s longtime collaborator, Antonio Citterio.

B&B Italia Outdoor is the result of 50 years of pioneering experience that redefined outdoor living by bringing the sophistication and comfort of indoor furniture to contemporary outdoor spaces.

B&B Italia established its first outdoor division in 1975 with the launch of Compagnia delle Filippine. Working with long-term collaborators Afra and Tobia Scarpa, the collection mixed the traditional weaving techniques found in the Philippines with cutting-edge Italian design, setting the foundation for a new vision of outdoor furniture.

When B&B Italia began further developing the collection in 2007, the focus again was innovation, materials and manufacturing know-how that would translate to the harsher realities of the climate. In collaboration with Milan-based Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, the Canasta collection marked B&B Italia’s reentry into the outdoor world. Today, the brand’s most loved and iconic pieces have joined the collection and new designs continue to expand the range.

Synonymous with B&B Italia’s relaxed elegance, timelessness, dynamic materials, textures and colours, the B&B Italia Outdoor collection includes sofas, sun beds, chairs and armchairs, tables for dining and nesting, and iconic pieces that have been adapted for outdoor living.

From highly functional pieces including the Erica ’19 armchair and sofa family designed by Antonio Citterio and made in tough aluminium, to the macro interlacing textures of Patricia Urquiola’s decorative Canasta and Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien’s Bay sofa collections, as well as classic designs in wood by Naoto Fukasawa, Vincent Van Duysen and Antonio Citterio, flexibility is key to the collection.

Design icons include La Bambola, first designed in 1972 by Mario Bellini, now reimagined, its curves finished in weather-resistant striped upholstery in eye-catching bold colour ways. While sofas like Ray and Charles by Antonio Cittero are also designed with soft washable cushions, as well as L-shaped and peninsular configurations providing multiple ways to relax, embedded with the brand’s trademark quality and design provenance.
