Martino Gamper

Born in Merano in 1971, Martino Gamper trained as a carpenter before studying sculpture and product design in Vienna. He worked in Milan from 1996, then moved to London, completing a master’s at the Royal College of Art in 2000. Exhibited at the V&A and the Design Museum, his work explores the psychological and social side of design, often giving discarded furniture new life.

For Gebrüder Thonet Vienna he designed Trio, an informal tripod stool in stool and counter heights whose bent wood elements recall the geometry of the triangle.
