Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm, born in 1929, studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, where he later taught, and in 1976 became Professor of Furniture Design at Copenhagen’s Royal Academy. A purist who made form a part of function, he insisted on structural clarity and technical quality; his furniture became a benchmark of Danish design and is held by MoMA and the V&A. He died in 1980.

Architectmade makes his PK bowls in granite and marble, after the black marble PK-600 he designed for Fredericia Town Hall in 1963, contrasting square and round, smooth inside and rough outside.
