R&D Billiani

R&D Billiani is the in-house design team of Billiani, founded in 1911, when Luigi Billiani, a carpenter from Carnia, and his wife Delina opened a small factory in Manzano to make bentwood chairs with cane seats. The company still produces entirely within the chair triangle, with a supply chain of specialist artisan companies.

The team’s designs include Wrap Steel (2018), defined by its wraparound back, Wround (2021), whose tubular steel frame supports a seat and back of comfortable proportions, and the Colonna table (2024), set on a solid central column in fine walnut.
